Breathtaking Mix of 3D sculpture & 2D painting

Known for his characteristic style of placing sculptures in front of paintings and showing them as one work, Japanese artist Shintaro Ohata depicts simple scenes from everyday life creating little dramas that are filled with wonder and emotion.

Many viewers tend to assume that there is a light source set into the paintings because of the strong expression of lights in the sculptures.

 

 

I've never seen anything like this executed so well. Would love to see these in person.
